Walked into a bookstore and choose a random cookbook, closed my eyes and cooked a random meal that I pointed to. To be fair, I did choose 2 random recipes at first that I needed a bunch of equipment for that I didn't have, but when I found the third one where I didn't need to buy any new equipment, I stuck with that one. Seared filet mignon marsala with butternut squash and wild rice pilaf. A lot more to it then it sounds like. It was pretty good!
